Russian oligarchs need to sit down – the Mercedes-AMG G65 is about to bow out. To celebrate the V12-powered off-roader’s life, a Final Edition has gone on sale, with only 65 available across the globe.
The clue is in the name – Final Edition. After this, the G65 is no more.
It’s been nearly 40 years for the G-Class and it’s due to be phased out, so the first of the models to be taken off the shelves is the V12 monster.
Appropriately, it comes in black paint, with menacing black grille but there are also bronze accents around the place, such as the guards underneath, bumpers, on the 21-inch wheels and on the mirrors. The side running boards and exhaust tips are finished in matte black, while inside there’s black nappa leather with brown stitch – it’s a bit difficult to stitch with bronze.
The carbon-fibre interior detailing also gets bronze accents, and you’ll find AMG and Final Edition badges dotted around the place.
The three locking differentials and twin-turbo V12 remain untouched, so you’ll still get a whopping 463kW and 1000Nm. It will also still run to 100kmh in just 5.3 seconds.
Will we find them in Australia? It’s very doubtful, seeing as only European pricing which was announced at €310,233. Ouch.
